Fan Guide for July Fourth Nathan's Contest

Fans planning to attend the Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest may want to arrive early, as early as 10 am if they want to get a good position.

The event, which takes place at Nathan's Famous on the corner of Surf and Stillwell avenues in Coney Island, can be reached by subway -- either N or Q train to Stillwell Avenue, last stop -- or by car, Belt Parkway to Cropsey Avenue, Cropsey Avenue south all the way to Surf Avenue, left until Stillwell. There is planty of parking for those who arrive early, but traffic can be crazy later in the day.

The contest itself begins at 12:40 pm sharp, but the "show" begins at 11:30 am. The event will air live on ESPN begining at 12 Noon.
